No, I wouldn't. But most especially I wouldn't do it if I HAD killed her.

He may have felt shocked by the violent death of a person he'd seen only the day before, and wanted somehow to help. Didn't know what else to do. Or before he went to the police he may have been told by someone that he was suspected.

It's sorta like reporting stuff to the SEC. I don't do it. If they're really interested in a company that I've been researching, it's fine if they want to get in touch with me. But since I don't know whether they care or not, I don't make the first move. Some people do, and there isn't necessarily anything sinister about their motives.
