OT> Peter, in answer to your query on LPTHA, the following article may be of help: Message 12509583

Aside from the GRADUM and other Lightpath products, LPTHA shares ownership in LightChip, Inc. with A.T. & T. Lightpath is in a joint-development deal with ETEK on a GRADIUM switch. Another factor that has many investors wondering what is going on with LPTHA is that over the past several months 2 marketing executives left Lucent to join LightPath. These 2 executives had been with Lucent/Bell Labs for decades. It is fascinating that they must consider to have better opportunities with LightPath. In addition, Robert Ripp, ex CEO of AMP was recently named CEO of tiny LPTHA. Developments have been quick and surprising.

The thinking is that LightChip is making the optical multiplexors. It is suspected that these will be used in the next-generation all-optical routers, like those that Lucent has issued announcements of late. No announcement has been made by any router makers at this time regarding LightChip.

Today at 12:16, 2 trades went by for 144,300 shares of LPTHA. . . highly unusual for this relatively thinly traded issue. They were apparantly on the buy side as one was at the ask and the other was between the bid and ask. EDIT: another 144,300 trade on the ask at 13:10 at 17 1/8.

Likewise, over the past 4 months, momentum has been building in LPTHA. . .both in volume and price. . . though so far in January it has been trading sideways.
