Brian -

Thanks for taking the time to post. A few notes:

- no price too high for speculative opportunities?
- pathfinder.com
- any reason to believe the internet will be different?

Cheers,

-mb

>>The real question is whether an investor believes the internet is a dramatic change. Some Internet companies will fail. The problem I have with Barrons and the "Big Kahuna" people is they talk like all the internet companies will fail.<<

dramatic changes and failing e-businesses are not mutually exclusive.

>> the customer reviews are incredibly valuable.<<

yes, i used them just before alt-tabbing to my second browser and buying my $20 off $25 purchase w/ free 2 day shipping at varsitybooks.com.

amazon's business model is much different than in the past. EVERY product amazon has is a loss leader. why? they are buying customers. (and they still are more expensive than many other stores!).

they are scared to stop buying stores. how many old school companies reached a billion in sales and STILL lost money? more than they lost at $500 m? which was more than they lost at $250 m? which... you get the point.

reduce knowledge friction and you head down the commodity spiral...

weeeee! ;-)
