Nothing new. 80% of a typical public internut company's revenue comes from a combination of banner-swaps and VC "purchasing"..

When you're a VC, if you can double your "baby"'s revenue figures by buying 10 million dollars worth of ad banners for your aunt gertie, and you know the SEC doesnt require you to break out exactly WHO bought all those banners, then you go right ahead plunk down the cash. That 10 million investment allows your VC shares to double in value, because as we know revenue growth is the name of the game.

I won't mention any names here. But one of the biggest starts with a "K"

And every IPO that flies through the roof gives them BILLIONS to "buy" product/services from the next IPO that they bring to market. Quite a racket, eh?

It's all fun and games until the mania ends, and then people start going to jail for this sort of thing.

Thank you for th elink. It is old but I do not know what to make of it. Anyone have any other thoughts on this?
