Jack, I don't think there's any excuse for a CEO's BS'ing. Gerstner at IBM gave guidance more than a quarter in advance. What did McGinn do? Seek authorization for more shares for a stock split. Sounds like Mr. Fun got BS'd to death, too. Lu was such a popular stock because investors believed they were not going to be BS'd. For McGinn to say his credibility shouldn't be impugned because this was the only time he failed to give honest guidance is BS "piled higher and deeper". If the problem was really lack of manufacturing capacity, Lu would have seen this coming months and months ago, especially since they record revenue only after installation acceptance by customers.
