Sun's up nicely in Germany, and the Globex is strong, so we may have a good day Monday.

JMHO.

More interesting ... is the way Scott has stepped in front of free software and the Linux Community. Sun is now flying the Apache/Linux colors with vitriol. You're hearing Scott refer to "the free operating environment". He's almost debranding Solaris.

However, if you look back at the article included in #25999, at least some analysts (shills) are saying:

Analysts believe IBM has done more than any other major computer maker to back Linux, whose growing popularity could undermine the proprietary Unix strategies of rivals like Sun Microsystems Inc. (NASDAQ:SUNW), the biggest Unix computer maker.

Actually, the whole thing with big box makers backing Linux looks like mostly sound and fury to me, and that goes for IBM, Sun, and the rest. They're moving press releases around like crazy and handing out selected portions of their code to the "community" under selected conditions approved by selected lawyers. How this translates into dollars for anybody I haven't figured out yet (although I'm sitting on a prickly stack of CORL anyway<g>). But one never knows, JC.

I feel a rally and a route coming.

I'd love to empath into your feeling, but who's rallying and who's routing? You've got to stop sloshing subtlety on me, I'm running out of Tums.
