Monaco,

I don't know if WIND is involved directly with the home gateway device itself. The gateway is important but what's more important are the devices connected to the gateway. There typically will be only one gateway in any given home, but there will be many devices connected to the gateway.

If the gateway is Java/Jini based then it follows that the connected devices will run on embedded Java/Jini. Since WIND has a very high percentage of the embedded Java design wins to date it follows that WIND should do well in this area.

I particularly like the idea of having the house alarm/fire alarm attached to the gateway. That way you could be alerted via mobile phone if it went off while you were out. You could then look at an external view of your home via your Jini enabled webcam. If it's a false alarm then simply reset the alarm. At least with this type of technology your neighbours will still be talking to you when you get back.

Regards
JC.
