GM in talks with Honda, others on Web marketplace

NEW YORK, Jan 12 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. <GM.N> is
in talks with Honda Motor Co. <7267.T> and several other auto
makers about joining its new Internet marketplace for suppliers,
the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
The report cited Mark Hogan, president of GM's Internet unit
e-GM, as saying the company has held preliminary talks with
Honda on joining GM TradeXchange, a Web-based market for auto
makers to do business with suppliers.
GM is also in talks with Toyota Motor Corp. <7203.T> about
joining, the report said.
Ford Motor Co <F.N> has created a similar electronic
commerce effort with Oracle Corp. <ORCL.O>. A Nissan Motor Co.
Ltd <7201.T> spokesman said on Tuesday that Nissan is
considering joining the Ford-Oracle venture.
