Incorrect! oxidized silver is less conductive than gold, but pure silver conducts more electricity.

Which is why some "high end" cables are enclosed silver with gold contacts.

But as for the "high end" cable argument, if the signal is digital it doesnt make a damn bit of difference. It either conducts the 1s and 0s, or it doesnt.

People occasionally make the argument that since the original SPDIF CD digital format had no error correction, you had to get the most expensive cable to minimize errors. But all the modern digital interconnect protocols have error correction these days, just like computer components.

Gold is not as good of a conductor as silver. I believe silver is the best, but I'm not sure.

Of course, the oxide (tarnish) layer on silver ruins it for terminations.
