3Dlabs & AMD to Collaborate on High-Performance Workstation Graphics Solutions

3Dlabs is known as a supplier of high performance 3D video cards for workstations. A closer working relationship between 3Dlabs and AMD is good because it allows the AThlon to get more backing in the workstation market and also because of this -

"3Dlabs will significantly enhance its support for the AMD Athlon processor, including refining the optimizations for AMD's
3DNow!(TM) instruction set already integrated into 3Dlabs' latest generation of PowerThreads(TM) drivers. AMD will
continue to provide technical support and engineering resources to 3Dlabs to enhance these efforts."

More 3DNow! support, especially in the workstation market is very good.

There are also mentions of other companies launching 800MHz Athlon powered computer.

The Athlons's superior FPU is showing how powerful it really is!

<Alert: Robertson Stephens Ups Advanced Micro Fy00
Eps View to $1.50 From $1.00 (NYSE:AMD)>

I am mighty surprised that Niles pushed Q4 to 0.26 but FY00 to $1.50. He is clearly being conservative but I am nevertheless disappointed. I am thinking that the $40 target he has should be good for a week ;-)

By the way, he is calling for 900k K7s and ~6Mu CPU in total which is completely inline with what I said a few days back.

And, looks like Niles thinks Intel will be over 0.63 - which I doubt. Let's see.
