B: Waterside Capital Expects Strong Second Quarter Financial Results;
Investment in The Netplex Group Drives Returns

NORFOLK, Va., Jan 10, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Waterside Capital Corp.
(Nasdaq:WSCC) announced today, after a preliminary review of the second
quarter financial results, that the Company anticipates reporting very
positive results.

Significantly contributing to the positive results was Waterside's
investment in The Netplex Group (Nasdaq: NTPL), whose share price
increased from $2.35 to $11.375 during the quarter. Several other
factors cited for the projected earnings growth included diligent cost
control and the growth and quality of their investment portfolio.

"Our success with Netplex reflects the analytical ability of our
investment professionals who work diligently to identify sound
investments with strong upside potential," commented Alan Lindauer,
Waterside's President.

"We decided to invest in Netplex eighteen months ago after a thorough
analysis of the company's potential. We have recently sold a portion of
our Netplex holdings generating a realized gain of approximately $1.5
million. We continue to hold warrants of Netplex and will continue to
monitor the company's progress."

"In addition to the in-depth review we conduct prior to establishing an
investment, our research department, headed by Martin Speroni, an
experienced Wall Street professional, carefully monitors all Waterside
investments to detect potential problems and opportunities that may
arise," added Gerry McDonald, Waterside's CFO.

"By monitoring our investments very closely, we strive to minimize
surprises, and, if needed, become part of the solution."

Waterside expects to release the financial results of its fiscal second
quarter ended December 31, 1999 on January 24, 2000.
