Although it is not quite accurate (Bedouins are semitic, for example), the term "semite" came to be used by racial ideologues to refer to Jews, on the theory that even those Jews who had assimilated or even converted shared in certain traits that were "genetic". Thus, by extension, someone who is indiscriminately against Jews as an ethnic group is an anti- semite, although some might deny the racial implication, or qualify their remarks with a phrase like "of course, this is only a generality". Anti- Jewish is reserved for those who are against Jews on the basis of their religion, and therefore are not hostile to Jews who are secular or who have converted.

I don't know Gordon.. I think Neocon's explanation seems to be on target.. I think the term would be Anti-Israeli.. Isn't Jewish a term for their religion? Like Christian or Catholic?
