The system that Hitachi and Qualcomm will try to commercialize has a maximum throughput of 2.4 megabits per second, or about the same as sophisticated cell phones.

This is great. I wonder who makes the technology for these "spophisticated cell phones?" Could it be......QUALCOMM?

You gotta love it. QCOM's only competitor is itself.

BTW, which major global telecom firms could we be talking about here? Could it be.....Vodaphone/Airtouch/Mannesman?

Man would that be cool.

This is great news, but somebody needs to work on their translation from what I expect was an initial Japanese language release to the English equivalent.

The system that Hitachi and Qualcomm will try to commercialize has a maximum throughput of 2.4 megabits per second, or about the same as sophisticated cell phones.

I'm not sure I understand the second part of this... are they saying that the HDR throughput (which currently blows everything short of the pie-in-the-sky ultimate 3G systems) gives approximately what the 3G throughput will be?

Regardless, having Hitachi spend 10 billion yen for a domestic product line would seem to indicate they're serious... I also like the 200 billion yen vs. 1 trillion yen comparison for network buildout... that should raise a few operators eyebrows.... 1/5 the cost for a similar performance capability.

Nice announcement, more to come. Giants still pounding at the door. At least they don't leak the info. to insiders first, like the 'dinosaur' exchange. CRA rockets all morning, announcement released this afternoon. Not too happy, but holding on to what I have.

Q rocks, now that the amp is plugged in, CRANK IT UP!!!
