Well, at least we know now why Dell is down...apparently, CNBC reports, Niles believes that Dell will warn at the end of the month.....and that they are behind (in units for the quarter).. Possible bright signs (on a cloudy day): (1) If not Dell....Who is Intel selling all those chips to? (If Gateway is not getting enough..and 3rd tier guys are still struggling from earthquake...) It would seem impossible that Dell is not having, at least, a decent quarter... (2) Niles is not nearly as accurate when he has to project revenues, earnings (weeks in advance)...Intel earnings coming out in a few days, so he is most likely tipped...with 30% or so of Dell's biz left to go in the quarter, even Dell doesn't know (for sure) if they are going to make it... Without a doubt, it would be very disappointing if Dell can not make this quarterly number....this would be another "imagine dent" for this excellent management team, for they should have guided the analysts set a low enough target (that they could meet...easily)... If Dell is on target for the quarter (so far), I think it would make sense for them to come out and say so...while maintaining/reminding everyone that they still have a significant portion of sales to go (so nothing is casted in stone).........Chambers (Cisco) did this ("quarter on track") hours after Lucent warned...
