The deal makes a lot of sense. Although, I'm not sure that AOL, the stock, can continue to trade like an internet stock.

AT&T is rumored to be working on a hostile takeover bid for AOL. If this rumor comes true, it could completely destroy the current merger agreement that AOL has with Time Warner and/or ignite a bidding war for the world's largest Internet service provider much like the one experienced by Phelps Dodge several months ago.
