There's not even a pretense that it's an "orderly" market today. I've already lost track of the number of times where a giant trade just gaps out of nowhere that's not even close to the previous trade, or even the bid or ask, both up and down. We have a lower low today already, and the continuous propping-up at 71 5/8 suggests that that is as low as we go today.

But that same logic failed miserably at 75 1/4 yesterday, huh! Bounced smartly off 75 1/4 three times, and then again at 75, before it just dumped the rest of the day with the rest of the market.

I would have been wrong yesterday at 3:00, and today at 10:00 as well. One of the little observations in my notebook is that a sell into the top of the hour, especially if it accelerates in the last few minutes, is a total fake. It was true last Wednesday when MU sold down to 70, and true for pretty much everybody *except* MU on Friday at 1:00. Big bounces that lasted the rest of the day ensued immediately.

Anybody else think that the CS/FB tout of INTC is singing its praises a little too loudly, and a little too coincident with the earnings report?

Two days before earnings are announced, every "They" that's important has been leaked the numbers, that's a given. But let's pretend that they are doing actual analysis. What became true over the last week or two that wasn't true a month ago at their mega-toutfest? That Windows 2000 is "expected" to result in everybody upgrading their computer? That people are buying more cheap computers and getting on the internet? That Intel is going to have faster chips sometime in the future? I'm gonna be watching INTC today as well to look for signs of big money selling or just stepping aside.
