I'm all for returning the same level of benefits to the participants that they paid in, as well as some nominal level of interest *as long as* that guarantees the currrent payees into the system get something out too (which is by no means assured).

I think breaking a promise to some well-off elderly is preferential to grossly overtaxing the young. I realize a promise was made but promises are broken all the time.

Hey Bill, long time...

Ummm, how long does it take someone retiring today to get back absolutely every penny they paid in plus, oh, say, 10% interest? Six months? A year? Two years? Probably not much more than that.

After that they're just sucking up my money- money that I worked for and they didn't. That sounds like welfare to me....

Bill:

I wondered how you felt about the current scandal involving Lt. Gov. Jane Swift in Mass. Think she should resign? I think her PR person should be executed.

Also, heard today that State Sen. Glottis will enroll a bill at the State House tomorrow to do away with bilingual education in Mass. What chance do you think that bill has against the State and National Teacher's Union lobbyists?
