SATCON TECHNOLOGY ESTABLISHES NEW OPERATING DIVISION - ADVANCED FUEL CELL POWER PRODUCTS BUSINESS/TECHNOLOGY EDITORS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2000--SatCon
Technology Corporation(R) (Nasdaq:SATC.O), a leader in power and energy
management products, announced today that is has established its
seventh and newest operating division, The Advanced Fuel Cell Power
Products Division, formerly HyComp, in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Advanced Fuel Cell Power Products will market and sell SatCon's family
of fuel cell power converters, controllers and amplifiers. SatCon is
building power converter modules for use in residential fuel cell
power generation systems. These modules can also be sized for
commercial applications including small businesses, factories,
industrial parks and shopping malls. The new division will also market
and sell Ling Electronics' new power converter product line,
SatCon/FMI's power converters for fuel cell automobiles, as well as
manufacture key proprietary components for all of SatCon's fuel cell
power converter product lines.
There are 70 million homes in the United States that are
connected to or built near natural gas lines and many millions more
that already use home delivery of propane. Using natural gas or
propane, a fuel cell power generator, with a SatCon power converter,
can provide a home or business with environmentally clean, highly
reliable, computer grade electricity independent of the utility grid.
"We are already supplying the major fuel cell manufacturers with
our power converter products, that are smaller and more efficient, and
we have a $10 million dollar Department of Energy (DoE) contract to
reduce the costs of manufacturing the product by actually installing a
production line. We will transition that work and install the
production line at the Advanced Fuel Cell Power Products Division to
support building power converters for fuel cell power generators as
well as for fuel cell automobiles. Fuel cells are also an ideal
replacement for current internal combustion engines in automobiles
because they are environmentally clean. Some 60 million cars are
produced each year worldwide, which represents a significant
opportunity for fuel cell engines and power converters that could
reduce air pollution and increase fuel economy." said David
Eisenhaure, SatCon's President and Chief Executive Officer.
Advanced Fuel Cell Power Products will coordinate the sales and
marketing efforts for Ling Electronics' new power conversion product
line that is currently being sold to a new fuel cell customer.
Combining the fuel cell power products into this new division will
focus the sales and marketing initiatives, expedite product
development and increase opportunities for SatCon's fuel cell power
products for homes, businesses and automobiles.
"Our DoE program is providing the funding to reduce manufacturing
costs for fuel cell vehicle power converters. When we purchased
HyComp, it was our plan to use HyComp to accommodate FMI growth and to
manufacture power modules for a range of distributed power generation
applications," continued Eisenhaure . "Part of the facility will
continue to support FMI, but with the importance of fuel cell power
conversion products, SatCon plans to expand HyComp's role in power
modules by reorganizing it as the Advanced Fuel Cell Power Products
Division and transitioning the fuel cell power converter products out
of the Technology Center and into this new division."

SatCon Technology Corporation manufactures and sells power and
energy management products for power generation, telecommunications,
manufacturing, factory automation, aircraft, satellites and automotive
applications. SatCon has seven operating divisions: Advanced Fuel Cell
Power Products manufactures and sells power conversion products for
fuel cell power generation systems; Film Microelectronics, Inc.
designs and manufactures microelectronic circuits and interconnect
products; Magmotor manufactures servo-motors and magnetic suspension
systems; Ling Electronics manufactures test equipment, power products,
amplifiers and controllers; Beacon Power manufactures flywheel energy
storage devices; SatCon Electronic Power Products manufactures power
converters for microturbines; and the Technology Center is responsible

Business Wire Jan 10, 2000

PemFuelCells.com is launched by CoPower.com to market Hydrogen Powered Fuel Cells.

Palm Beach Florida: CoPower.com, an Internet based marketer of hydrogen energy technology has unveiled it's latest web address, pemfuelcells.com to market hydrogen fuel cells manufactured by DCH Technology, Inc. (OTC BB: DCHT).

"We created PEMfuelcells.com, to make it easy for the people in both industry and government who are surfing the Internet for information on fuel cells to easily find DCH Technology and their distinct line of fuel cell product families," stated Steven Oshinsky, the creator of CoPower.com.

DCHT's circular fuel cell is unique in its design and looks similar to a large battery. It is a smaller, simpler class of fuel cell, which relies on ambient air pressure for oxygen and its own water generation to humidify the membranes. This completely eliminates the need for the pumps, fans and blowers that other types of fuel cells require, which increase both production costs and failure rates. Simplicity and reliability are key features at DCHT.

DCHT's fuel cells range in size from as small as "D" sized batteries to as large as 3kW, or about enough to power a mobile home. They are specifically designed to provide "portable" and/or "backup" electric power and are the ideal size for powering remote locations which represents a niche market with a current and significant demand, and for emergency situations such as hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters. "We envision the day when the pollution and noise from small two stroke engines and gasoline and diesel powered generators are replaced with non-polluting and highly efficient fuel cell devices."

Sample applications for the small PEM's include most consumer electronics, battery chargers, refrigeration, lighting, mobile computing and remote telecommunications. Larger applications will include scooters and motorbikes, marine vessels and navigation, and eventually anyone seeking "reliable" and "un-interruptable" sources of portable electricity.

With industry giant Plug Power (NASDAQ: PLUG) targeting affordable fuel cell power for homes and small businesses, we believe that hydrogen powered fuel cells will be implemented into the mainstream economy far sooner than is currently predicted. The Plug Power residential unit is being marketed by General Electric, (NYSE: GE), and Detroit Edison, (NYSE: DTE), who jointly own majority positions in Plug Power along with First Albany Corp., (NASDAQ: FACT), and Mechanical Technology, (NASDAQ: MKTY).

Hydrogen Energy is currently one of the fastest growing industries globally; growing at an average annual rate in the US alone at over 30%. Hydrogen Energy is projected to grow into the trillions over the next decade. The Oil and Auto industries are now together on this issue and have taken the lead role announcing in Dec. 1999, that a dedicated hydrogen filling station and fuel-cell vehicle test center will open in California by the autumn of 2000. Shell Hydrogen (NYSE: RD) will jointly fund the fueling facility, along with Arco (Atlantic Richfield Co) (NYSE: ARC) and Texaco Inc. (NYSE: TX). The station will dispense liquid and compressed hydrogen fuel for 16 fuel-cell powered passenger vehicles. Automobile companies involved in the venture include DaimlerChrysler AG (NYSE: DCX), Ford Motor Co (NYSE: F), Honda Motor Co Ltd and Volkswagen AG (VOWG.F ) and each will have garage bays at the center for servicing, repairs and diagnostics. Automotive Fuel Cell giant Ballard Power Systems, (NASDAQ: BLDP), (TSE: BLD) is providing the fuel cell system. Further details of the operation are available on the World Wide Web, at: drivingthefuture.org

The global shift to the use of Hydrogen as a fuel is already under way. With the automobile and oil companies now solidly behind this "once in a millenium" event, the requirements for power at different levels will be met by several different companies. With Ballard focussing on PEM units for stationery power plants and transportation applications; and Plug Power focussing on homes and small businesses, we expect DCH Technology to be the leader in the "portable power" application.

"Portable Power is a market with an appreciable demand today, and an unlimited demand in the not too distant future. PEMfuelcells.com will play an integral and strategic role in our overall long term marketing strategy."

CoPower.com is an Internet based marketing service for renewable and hydrogen energy technology. Currently featured are PEM Fuel Cells, Hydrogen Sensors and Gas Leak detection systems manufactured by DCH Technology, Inc. of Valencia CA, and Wearable Computers from Xybernaut Corporation, (NASDAQ: XYBR) of Fairfax, VA. Some Valley Penny Stocks a Bargain, With Change Back

Many analysts dismiss shares that trade for less than $5 as too risky, but a handful of local tech-related companies were top performers in '99.

January 11, 1999 by Bob Howard Los Angeles Times

...The year's second-best performer was Valencia-based
DCH Technology, which finished 1999 at $2.97, up 251.9% for the year and 458.8% for the fourth quarter, according to Bridge Information Services.
Chairman David Haberman describes DCH as connected to the existing industrial base through the manufacture of hydrogen sensors used in industrial plants, while it's connected to the future through its development of hydrogen fuel cells to be used as sources of electrical power.
DCH's sensors are used to ensure that hydrogen does not exceed acceptable levels in the dozens of industries in which the gas is used, ranging from food processing to aerospace. In its fuel cell business, DCH
is one of a number of companies working on technology that turns hydrogen gas into electricity.

DCHT a Fuel cell and Hydrogen safety company.
dcht.com

The company is emerging from 5 years of R&D commercializing
the new "energy technology"

Hydrogen.

they have the market straddled offering a distinct family of fuel
cell batteries, and hydrogen sensors to keep everybody else's
hydrogen energy equipment safe.

Born out of a reverse merger in Nov 1997, the company is
readying itself for a nasdaq small cap listing.

As a very small company they are in a very large industry;
a key component of successful investing in micro caps.

Heavyweights like Ford, Daimler Chrysler, GM, Royal Dutch
Shell, BP Amoco, General Electric and Detroit Edison are all
pushing hydrogen and fuel cell technology.

The stock is currently at 4 3/8 with 17 million shares outstanding
and 7 or 8 million shares in the float.

On a market cap basis they are one of the smallest companies in
their sector, and have the most going for them overall, in my
humble opinion.

This is another stark example of the gross inefficienies in the
market place that offer textbook opportunity for microcap
investors.

I have devoted two websites to assist in their growth and visibility
to the investment and industrial communites,

copower.com to market their products and promote the
industry, and
ramcapitalmanagement.com
to give greater visibility in the investment community to an
otherwise unknown company.

The fund that I run, RAM Capital Management
has made a substantial investment in the success of this company.

Further information can be obtained.

Sincerely,
Steve O
