Well, there is an assumption in that statement, but it has more to do with why someone would argue a point flying in the face of fact. I don't know what your motivation is, Michael but I do know that it has been documented continuously by numerous impartial sources that the current recipients of SS and Medicare are receiving much, much, much, mucho more than they ever put in - and the current payees in the $9K/year bracket are faced with likely bankruptcy of the system unless drastic changes are made. (repeat - 15% of these people's income DOWN THE DRAIN)

So for that former group who are retrieving SO MUCH from this financial boondoggle that is SS - what would be your definition for them if not welfare recipients? Some members of this welfare class (specifically the aarp management) are closer to crooks than welfare recipients I'd say, but thats just semantics.
