Curses! Okay, Vodafone is off and running with GPRS. They'll be ready to rumble about September [they claim]. That will give them at least two years before they need to worry about HDR. I suppose they will make a lot of money in that time and the cost of upgrading to GPRS as a short-term solution is worth it.

They'll get at LEAST two years out of it and maybe 5, depending on how fast the whole data world of WWeb takes off. That will give them some great competitive advantage for voice as well as profits on the data.

Then again, they might just can GPRS after the trials if it doesn't work out.
