Your post to r edwards is very sound, thanks. Profits from Jan QCOM calls could be rolled into the purchase of Febs for the run into earnings, put into the purchase of LEAPs, or taken as cash (in my case to pay 1999 taxes, ugh).

then where do you put the money? treasuries?

taking profits in one option and putting the proceeds in another option just for the sake of taking a profit makes no sense to me.
