I don't what hell Paul is going to do when AMD really takes off this year. The goal is to make money as an investor, not be a cheerleader for one company or a hater of another. He loses whatever credibility he had with each successive post.

Intel lowers Celeron prices

Intel Corp. today nudged its desktop Celeron prices lower, part of what the Santa Clara, Calif., chip maker called a normal pricing move.

After introducing its 533-MHz Celeron last week for $167 in 1,000-unit lots, Intel today cut its other Celeron prices by 5% to 10%.

"Just typical price activity," said an Intel spokesman. Still, observers wondered if the move was a preemptive strike against Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., which is expected to introduce the enhanced K6-2 or K6-2+ next month to challenge the Celeron anew.

Intel cut the price of its 500-MHz socketed Celeron 10%, to $128, and lowered the 466-MHz version by 5%, to $89. The 433-MHz chip now costs $69, down 5%. Intel left the price of the 400-MHz version unchanged, at $64.
