No. The opening price has nothing to do with the previous day's closing price.

I was confused by third party. I thought large private sales of stock did not affect the price on the exchange. I had a fellow si who was doing large private sales in a small company in order not to run down the stock on the nasdaq.(He was getting out and selling to another private large holder of stock)

At least that's what he told me.
