Frank- Yes I do see downward pricing pressures now that Hollywood is jumping on the broadband wagon. But I'm talking years out. In the meantime there are millions willing to pay $40/month for broadband and I'm sure the cablecos/telcos will be glad to accept it.

I don't think broadband is going to move at a glacial pace. A year ago I had two cable modem companies competing for my business and now DSL. Just four or five years ago the web was type face only. Look at it today. I don't believe there is any comparison in history where a technology has caught on this fast. I see it becoming more of a race now that shot one(T buying cablecos) and two(AOL-TWX merger) have been fired.

And I got a major laugh out of Steve Case announcing he hopes market forces can be the regulator of broadband access, and not the government. It just shows how sincere he was during the, "open access," debate. I suppose that will die a quick death with no funding by it's major proponent. Good news for AT&T. It was some fancy footwork he used to announce this new line of thinking. Quite entertaining.

I was surprised how quickly the WSJ caught onto the implications of this deal. I figure it'll be another week before the dots are connected and they realize that the telecommunication equipment companies supplying the building blocks/technology for broadband infrastructure will be the only guaranteed winners. --MikeM(From Florida)
