I think having some fundamentals to go along with PnF would be a perfect combination. Personally all I need is Value Line combined with PnF for some great results.
I also think having a fundamentalist's comments of sector rotation or particular stocks would be very informative. Something that would mesh all of the numbers together and give a good outline of what the industry or stock is all about.

For instance, last years Value Line portfolio is up 127%. Of course this is combined with PnF. Didn't trade it, just bought and held.
Here it is:

Hope you can view it.

Dear Tommy: Value Line and S&P would be far more valuable to me then fundamental search capability and I AM a CPA. JDN

The DWA site has been saying that the UK stocks will be changing over to the FTSE 350.

A lot of us in another thread closely follow Marconi Communications and would like very much to be able to view the chart.

What is the scheduled completion date for this conversion?

value line research accessed through dwa is VERY intriguing, because it would simplify importing lists for filtering, and possibly consolidate costs.
daily graphs online is another extremely useful paid site (when overlaid with p&f), because of their lists of top-rated stocks and sector rankings.

I want to have multiple windows open on DWA (more content, even more windows). I think that the site doesn't accomodate this well. Seems the windows "bump" each other.

Tom,

I wouldn't pay $35 for a company report, but I'm not a professional broker that advises clients or a fund manger that needs to move a few million bucks. If I were, I'm sure it would be different.

As a small retail investor/trader I don't pay a heck of a lot of attention to ROE, Book Value, or such. Some may call that foolish or naive, but it really doesn't seem to matter to me. The one thing I always do, before anything else, is look at the PnF chart. I figure all of that other stuff is shown in the supply and demand.

As for the financial portal, if you can increase my speed of access to pertinent information then it would be great. I try to adhere to the KISS principle as much as possible and anything that slows me down or complicates my process doesn't stay around long.

Right now I have a half a dozen browsers open along with QCharts and while I'm waiting for one to load, I can instantly "click" and be somewhere else.

For me, it's like trying to watch 6 different channels on TV one at a time on one screen. If there was some way to be able to watch six channels at the same time on one screen, or the equivalent, it would be great.

I understand the need to evolve as a leader in financial services, but right now I'm fully satisfied with DWA. There's already more there than I can use, but I'm just a little fish in a large pond trying to stay away from the sharks.

Tom, I think DWA should concentrate on providing PnF tools
only, not fundamentals. To me the PnF market indicators are
the most valuable part of a DWA subscription.

[I'm not sure how valuable Value Line screening is, because
so many Piffers use it. Also, judging from posts on this thread, there seem to be more momentum players than others].

Tommy,

From a trial that I took about 18 months ago, I decided that Wall Street City didn't have anything special to offer over and above what was available for no charge elsewhere on the net. Besides, they had no compelling writers or observers of the market on whom I could place any reliance. I also believe that they are tied into Telescan and too much of their push and context was geared in my view toward selling that service, not as much to providing meaningful content.

With respect to the content war you mentioned, I think that MSN (Microsoft Network) MoneyCentral would be a good website for you to look at. This site formerly carried a monthly charge, but is now free. It includes the usual set of numbers and opinion columns one expects and gets on other super sites, but it also has a very good fundamental search capability (includes the items you mentioned for example) that doesn't quite measure up to Value Line. However, MoneyCentral is an EXCEPTIONAL bargain when compared to VL's price. MarkeyGuide and Yahoo, other free mega-sites, are also good at presenting fundamental data and company/competitive/sector information similar to MSN as well.

I think the wheel and hub approach you mentioned or some variant thereof would be a good basic approach to consider unless something better develops out of your efforts to improve the DWA site. For example, I use fundamental analysis software that brings me with a single click to any one of a number of mega-sites I can select, right to the page(s) for the specific stock I'm studying, and then returns me to the analysis software when I'm ready. This is a great convenience and would allow a DWA user to jump back and forth to other sites of their choice while remaining anchored to your site.

As for the DWA site, unless it's already there and I've missed it (still exploring you know) I'd like to see a feature implemented where I can toggle for R/S between the DJ, the NYSE Index, a mid-cap and a small cap index and/or the NASDAQ Index for a given stock. I'd also like to be able to see PnF R/S charts that compare various indicies; i.e. - NYSE vs. NASDAQ, to get an indication of where the action is on the field, which team (index) has the ball and how likely a turnover may be.

Lastly, some basic TA capability would be helpful. For example, I like to look at Bolinger Bands and RSI (Wilder's) when considering options and find a site like AskResearch (this is free and they also include other TA indicators and option chains) very informative in that respect. That level of TA would be useful IMHO within DWA.

Hope that helps.

SAS...

Tommy

anything to simplify our lives would be great...i like the YHOO and 411 thing it helps to check current news and FA on the stocks i look at..so any enhancement would be great instead of us having to go elsewhere to find these OTHER things..

also, i love the pattern trades...i would like to see more and more comments on these types of charts...they work both ways and i would like to have it incorporated with an option trade?>??? type thing...

when the mo-mo moves in or out of a stock, using the pattern charts gives the trade a lot of ommph...i'm using this type of trade almost exclusively...

so anything to make life simpler is good..just try to give the cheap seats some option stuff..that would be great..

as for search and sort...i feel the chart has all the info we need..and what with intraday calls, idea generator, from the Analyist, and of course the chart patterns section, this gives an wonderful amount of stocks to trade...

keep goin' big guy..it's great your so concerned....

RENO PnF Get together! Official Post!

OK folks, you have been waiting and here it is.

Piffin Reno Nevada at the John Ascuaga's Nugget Resort.
March 3rd through the 5th, 2000!

Everyone is invited. Piffers, non Piffers, wannabe Piffers and those that just want to hang with Piffers...

A weekend of fun at The Nugget, which is a great place with very nice people and the best indoor pool you have ever seen. Check out guiadehoteles.com

I have arranged casino rates for standard rooms at 59.00 dollars a night. They will give discounts for suites but you must call for a quote. They have two towers, I suggest staying at the newer tower where jacuzzi tubs are available. I have told the marketing group that I would prefer us to be in that tower so all should be arranged.

We can all stay on the same floor but smokers may want a different level. I'll be on a non smoking floor for sure.

We will also have a room for our meeting, a time to discuss different trading techniques and some PnF tips and tricks - for those just learning this would be a great time to ask questions as this will be an open forum. Not a seminar but rather a discussion group where we will all learn from each other.

Saturday night I'll arrange a big dinner for all of us, won't be free but I think we can get a "deal" on the grub.

Transportation is available by shuttles that leave every half hour from the airport to the hotel. Now, if you all would send me your flight information I can possibly arrange some limo rides if there are enough coming in around the same time. I'll let you know. We'll get a schedule together.

There is also a Craps Tournament going on the same weekend. Whhoo hoooo! I know we have some players amongst us. If you want to enter the tournament please let the marketing rep know when you call to make your reservation. Plan on staying Sunday should you enter the finals until 3:00pm or so.

Here are the particulars of the Craps Tournament:
Entry fee is 99.00
You play with tournament chips and not your own money so the 99 bucks is the total expense. The play runs Saturday in shifts and into Sunday for the finals. The prize depends on the number of participants but they have paid up to 6,000 for the grand prize. There is a cocktail party on Friday night for those entering the tournament. I've played in some tournaments at The Nugget and they are always a hoot! Only putting out 99 bucks makes it fun 'cause you aren't worrying about losing your own money!

Now, for the details of the trip:

March 3rd through the 5th, 2000
The Nugget hotel and resort.
1-800-648-1177
Contacts are John Snieder or Beth Lau.
Casino rate is 59.00 for standard room, call for suite rates.
We are the PnF group.

To book:
Call the casino and ask for Beth or John.
John is available Thursday through Monday and Beth is available Tuesday through Saturday.
Beth suggests faxing in your reservation and they will call you to confirm.
Fax number is: 775-356-4206
Please include the following:
Name, address, phone, credit card number, room request (smoking or non smoking) and flight info (date, airline and time.).
Make sure you mention the PnF group and my name, Jan Edwards.

Or, you may call The Nugget and speak with Beth or John to book. Do not book through the normal reservation line.

I will be in contact with Beth or John to get the reservations on the same floor as much as possible along with our meeting room. I will post any information about the limo or shuttle rides. If you have any questions you can pmessage me.

Let's all go! This will be so much fun!
If we have enough people the Big Guy may come and join us and wouldn't that be fab!

I'll post more on the Craps Tournament. Let me know who is thinking of or joining the tournament. We may commander a table for just Piffers! :-p

TD,

Re: aggregation

Not for me, thanks. I keep bookmarks for the stuff I use, and usually have 2-5 browser windows open at a time ... good for looking at the Select Comfort site, for example.

And, that rate at which sites turn / come / go, it just doesn't strike me as a value I'd like to see you invest in.

I'd much rather you spend site cycles on deepening the search capabilities, and enhancing the 'auto-analysis' material you're just starting to do.

IMHO,

rr
