john, i think there are many players in this field. i think CRA has many things going for them. VENTER is probably the number one reason. he was with NIH..brilliant scientist,,egotistical,,maverick. he will serve the stock holders very well. he's not the ceo, but he is the chief scientist, and he wants to win very badly. from celera website.. <<J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., President and Chief Scientific Officer of Celera, was the founder and President of The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR), a not-for-profit genomics research institution, from 1992 until August 1998. He also was a scientific founder of Human Genome Sciences, Inc. Dr. Venter has been Chief Scientific Officer at TIGR since August 1998 and remains Chairman of the Board at TIGR. Prior to 1992, Dr. Venter was a Section Chief and a Lab Chief in the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes at the National Institutes of Health. At the NIH, Dr. Venter developed the EST method of gene sequencing, a new and very rapid strategy for gene discovery. Using this method at TIGR, Dr. Venter and other TIGR scientists discovered and published one half of all the human genes that have been sequenced. Using new algorithms developed at TIGR, TIGR developed the whole genome shotgun method that led to TIGR's completion of the first three genomes ever sequenced. Dr. Venter is one of the most cited biologists in the world and has set the pace for human genome sequencing. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego. >> they have the best technology,,and their company is focused on advances through technology.
