this year there is a new element: whereas at the beginning of '99 most strategists were doubting that the market could produce another year of stellar gains, this year it seems to have been declared a safe bet that the market will do exactly that. it's also the first year for which economists virtually unanimously predict a strong U.S. economy - a feat which they were doubtful about throughout the 90's, when they regularly underestimated the economy's strength.
well, the majority of stocks is going down since April of '98, so 'WTF did i buy puts' could have been avoided by throwing darts at a list of stocks and excluding all those with no earnings and buy puts on the rest.

Gersh.

Im trying to fool it. I bought my first long position yesterday in over 6 months (a very small position). Hopefully "it" didn't notice how small it was. If it didn't, the market should begin to tank today and continue down for 6 months.
