The Master

When Han Kan was summoned
To the imperial capital
It was suggested he sit at the feet of
The illustrious senior court painter
To learn from him the refinements of the art.

"No, thank you," he replied,
"I shall apprentice myself to the stables"

And he installed himself and his brushes amid the dung and the flies,
And studied the horses -- their bodies' keen alertness--
Eye-sparkle of one, another's sensitive stance,
The way a third moved graceful in his bulk--

And painted at last the emperor's favorite,
The charger named "Nightshining White",

Whose likeness after centuries still dazzles.

~Frederick Morgan 1922

Now that the grub is done on DAR, I'll post this here:

Instructions ~

fashion clone
mindless drone
let the blank
set the tone
talk to god
on the phone
as your spirit
dies unknown
count the words
that rhyme with own
as you reap
the seeds you've sown
remember when
your mind was blown
by that girl
from San Anton'
another day
you took a loan
another year
the kids are grown
say to yourself
if id'a known
i'd never kiss
that blarney stone
wish again
you had flown
home to that girl
in San Anton'
b for bone
c for cone
count the words
that rhyme with own
always keep
the front yard mown
and love a girl
from San Anton'
remember when
you were shown
a secret room
the switch was thrown
you caught a glimpse
of the crone
fade to black
the fuse was blown
its back into
the twilight zone

always keep
the front yard mown
and love that girl
from San Anton'
