I can't exactly recall, but I think I've been following QQQ for about 6months. It's historical vol is about 35. IV now around 55. pretty high for a index tracking stock.
great for writing.

I have not paid serious attention to LEAPS, but further out options tend to have lower vol overall than near month options.
Herm on the CC thread has some good guidelines on writing CC against LEAPS. My personal view is that it's not a good idea... you need to think thru what happens if you get assigned.

You ask some specific questions which depends a lot on your outlook for the underlying (for the term of the CC and LEAPS) and your tolerance for risk.
