i think seagate beat the "number"(with "1time" expenses) but made way less revenues than last year and a little less rev than last quarter...if there was y2k stockpiling going on then this coming quarter will look horrible...also christmas comp sales slowdown and less need for drives...also asian production not hurt by y2k bug... looks bad for seg....market not in the mood for kindness right now...see LU etc

To All, Safeguard Scientifics (SFE) looked absolutely unsafe today, down $14. Wish I had more than a third of my puts in place. I never got my Hewlett puts. I guess a guy with my looks just can't play it too cute. "How come the pretty boy ends up in the ugly part?" Apologies to Bertie Higgins. <g> Ligand is acting awfully spunky lately. And, don't look now, you may scare them, but Duramed is showing signs of life. On the negative side, my Commscope is not acting all that healthy. Yahoo says they have growth in eunuch users. O.K., they said "unique" and I am just gelding the lily. <g> I don't follow Yahoo, so does anyone know what a unique user is? Is it someone too dumb to use a search engine that pays you to use it? It can't be eunuch, as my readings of Byzantine and Ottoman empire histories showed those sort of dudes to be pretty savvy. <g>
