At least there was some reparte' then. I suspect everyone
who had such fantastic profits from AMAT are out on their
yachts without a care in the world. Did you happen to
see any lately? They are the ones with huge grins on their
faces as they sip their Martini's. 8^)

G,

BB, this thread was more fun when everyone was losing money. :) Gottfried [end]

I couldn't agree more, G. It is much easier to own/buy AMAT et. al. when everyone hates the group and thinks that overcapacity is going to plague the industry for two or more Olympic cycles.

At this point in the cycle (I'll call it early-mid-cycle?), we all stare out through our six month visibility window and hope that in month seven there is not a vast chasm into which our beloved SemiCaps will plummet to their deaths yet again.

Some of us look at the valuations and feel uncomfortable with the risks of a sooner than expected downturn; others have the ability to ride out the 'temporary displacements' in the WFE industry -- even if they are as swift and severe as they were in calendar 1998.

That's why trades happen. Without a buyer and a seller, markets would be pretty difficult to establish.
