Just a glance at their management team is impressive. pliantsystems.com President and CEO: Previously, Mr. Orr was President and CEO of Alcatel Network Systems, Inc. There he was responsible for the Richardson, Texas-based company with 6,000 people and $1.5 billion in revenue (1996). He was Vice President and General Manager of Rockwell International's Network Transmission Systems Division before the organization was acquired by Alcatel. EVP: Dr. Jones co-founded BroadBand Technologies, now Pliant Systems, in 1988 to pursue the development of broadband fiber-in-the-loop. Involved in the technology of optical-fiber communications almost since its inception, his efforts were instrumental in the development, design and promotion of BroadBand's Fiber-Loop Access (FLX©) System. Dr. Jones holds graduate and doctorate degrees in Applied Physics from Cornell University and received his BSME degree from Utah State University. VP, Engineering: Mr. McLean is responsible for developing and supporting Pliant Systems access products. He joined the company in October of 1996 and was promoted to his current position in March of 1998. During his 16 years of experience in the information processing and datacom industries he has held a variety of senior management positions in marketing, development and manufacturing at IBM Corporation. While there, he also ran the company's datacom technology product line. Mr. McLean received his executive MBA through IBM's President's Class and the Harvard Business School. He also holds a BSEE degree from the University of Virginia.
