Consulting Sensational Breakthrough in Microwave Transmission Technology The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. Munich/Hamburg (ots Ad hoc Service) - Hamburg-based mediascape communications GmbH has accomplished a breakthrough in microwave transmission technology. The seventy-two per cent subsidiary of EMPRISE Management (Frankfurt: 571050.F) Consulting AG (Hamburg) has implemented a solution which allows data transfers with speeds of up to 155 megabits per second - 2,325 times faster than ISDN. Frank Brgmann, CEO of mediascape: "This is currently the highest possible speed worldwide." With this "express access" to the Internet, microwave transmission creates new possibilities - for example for e-commerce. The microwave transmission bridges the so-called "last mile" in telecommunication. Telephone lines owned by Deutsche Telekom (Frankfurt: 555700.F) AG are no longer required in order to get access to the data highway. mediascape s microwave transmission solution "dataAirways" allows a fast transfer also of large data quantities. It is bug-proof and weather independent. Phone calls are free within the whole mediascape-network. dataAirways is already being used by media companies and agencies, hardware stores, and grocery chains, which equipped several branches with the system. Big businesses are establishing wireless intranets or extranets using microwave transmission. "Operating as a phone company with class 3 and 4 licenses, mediascape is also able to offer the "last mile" to other carriers. This issue has already been negotiated", confirms Bernhard Mannheim, director of the board at EMPRISE. "With transmission rates of 155 megabits per second, we are miles ahead of our competitors", Frank Brgmann emphasizes. The first client to benefit from this new technology is HypoVereinsbank in Munich. Gerd Nicklisch, speaker of the board of EMPRISE Management Consulting AG, is convinced that the future of telecommunication belongs to broadband microwave transmission: "The integration of spoken language and large high-quality data quantities is the foundation for powerful solutions which allow users to integrate the Internet in all their business transactions." One important area for the use of high-performance microwave transmission technology will be fast growing business-to-business on the Internet. Dataquest expects an explosion in the growth of worldwide Internet business from US dollars 31.2 billion in 1999 to 380 billion in 2003. About 80 per cent of all e-commerce is expected to take place in the business-to-business segment. Broadband microwave transmission allows the broadcast of company videos and high quality live transmissions of shareholders meetings as well as video-on- demand. Today a press conference will take place in Munich to provide more detailed information on the topic.
