Re: why did AMD have to JACK UP the voltage...to get from 750 MHz to 800 MHz?

You got the from correct on the clock speeds, but may be in for some news on the to.

There's also AMD's habit of shipping announced products, instead of just announcing them. Ah, never mind, you wouldn't understand...

Re: "Oh yeah - then why did AMD have to JACK UP the voltage from 1.6 to 1.7 volts just to get from 750 MHz to 800 MHz?"

This is an excellent point! If Athlons need a voltage tweak to get to higher frequency, all the low hanging fruit are gone and they are having to climb up to get to the hard to reach ones. Also note that Athlon has been out longer than CuMine has so that has given AMD more time to work on speed paths. What would be interesting to know is if the .18u version is a dumb shrink of a full compaction. Did they add another metal layer? Anyone know?

To make you curious.

I answer your question after you apologize for accusing me of lying and being deceitful based on a mistake you made.
