BroadVision, Inc. Hires, Promotes Three Key Sales Executives


REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- BroadVision(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN), the leading provider of personalized e-business applications, announced today, it has promoted James W. Thanos to the newly created position of executive vice president of Worldwide Field Operations (WFO); hired Ken Powell as Thanos' successor, to the role of vice president and general manager of the Americas; and promoted Gino Padua to vice president and general manager of Worldwide Channels.

The new appointments position BroadVision to take full advantage of the worldwide increase in sales and revenue opportunities associated with the rapid growth of e-business. Thanos will be responsible for growing BroadVision's worldwide sales and sales organization; Powell will hold responsibility for furthering customer growth and sales penetration in North and South America; and, Padua will further develop and expand worldwide channels and partnerships.

Jim Thanos, formerly vice president and general manager, Americas, for BroadVision, joined BroadVision from Aurum Software, a subsidiary of the Baan Co. N.V. and a leader in sales force automation business solutions, where he was senior vice president of worldwide sales. Thanos also has served as vice president of sales of Harvest Software, vice president of sales operations at Metaphor, Inc. and vice president of sales at Informix.

Ken Powell joins BroadVision from Network Associates, where he held key executive positions within the company including vice president of businessDirect, a subsidiary of Network Associates, vice president of global services, and vice president for various regions worldwide. Prior experience also includes chief of staff to Ray Lane, president and COO of Oracle, head of sales of Oracle's central region, and sales management positions at Apple.

Gino Padua brings more than twelve years of software sales and management experience to BroadVision, having served as executive director of strategic markets for the Baan Company, where he was responsible for strategic direction for emerging vertical markets. Prior to this position at Baan, Padua served as director of operations for Beologic A/G, Denmark-US, a subsidiary of Aurum Software. Prior to the Baan Company and Aurum, Padua held sales and sales management positions at Brock Control Systems and Xscribe Corporation.
