NW - don't give up on those 35's yet... or maybe think about rolling them on an uptick...

I stuck to selling (both calls and puts) through most of 1999 - it's certainly a safer play if you watch yourself. For example I sold 500 DELL May 50 covered calls (DLQEJ) over 5, now 3 and change... I'll probably roll out of those, go back in on the next DELL uptick.

But the opportunity to leverage what I regard as unjustified drops in solid companies (CPQ, LU, TYC) via buying calls has just been too much for me to resist. Maybe I'll get burned eventually but so far they have been my best performers, outshadowing both direct equity gains and option sales especially when one considers the time that the money is at risk. If I guess right I usually roll out after the first big rise when the options go in the money, better safe than sorry. That usually is a month or 2 at most.

BTW - pretty happy with NETP now after many months thinking it was a stinker... thanks to M2, K and Jimbo for that. Basis about 20...
