re FGH article:
<<now we see FGH closing a plant that they recently got a loan & Federal Development grant
on ? ->>
The article you cited mentioned only Greenwood as having used EDA grants. Which one is closing that does the same?
Of the three facilities for sale:
Which one is the Walker yard? I searched for "Walker" in Halter's last 10K and came up dry.

Is there need for 2 training yards?

How about 2 head office buildings?

TIA for any clarification.

Slider & all,
On a more positive note, the North Atlantic Oscillation has begun to dip from firmly positive levels to barely positive levels this morning.
I will be watching carefully to see if it continues its recent descent or if it blips back up. Currently +.38; stronger positive readings (+ 1 to +3) tend toward warmer eastern USA temperatures while negative readings tend toward colder eastern USA (and Europe) temperatures.
Some LT forecasters are calling for a Jet Stream change that would indicate a move toward colder patterns like those in my last weather post. Time will now tell whether its all wishful thinking or not and as I have indicated before the next two weeks are critical for this winter's trend to either start to shape up like Old Man Winter or be a pussycat like last year.

Snow and ice are in the Pennsylvania forecast discussions for 18-36 hours but amounts not yet in official forecast as of 3AM.

I'll be busy offline all day, back tonight.

Best of luck to all,

Roebear

Slider "The Mouth" O/T AND On Topic Comments

First, it was SargeK who provided YOU the link to the news article -http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=12538261

Slider: "In all seriousness; the post mentioning that article was "poo-poo'd" by everyone today - led by you SargeK; saying it was a false rumor by professional stock manipulators etc."

Show me where I said the Rumors were "FALSE": This is what I said: "Slider - I suggest you address your questions to John Hastings FGH/IR BEFORE spreading the RUMORs!" AND ""The timing of the POSTS speak volumes. Crude is UP today. FGH continues the basing process with a strong upward TREND and accelerating volume; providing an excellent time to spread RUMORs."

Comment: A responsible poster would have attempted to FIND OUT the basis of the RUMOR BEFORE OPENING his big mouth as YOU did. Instead you CHOSE to spread the RUMOR in your never ending attempt to influence the price of this stock. I can and will, if necessary, post links to messages posted by YOU here and on Yahoo which will PROVE that is an accurate statement.

Slider: "And NOW ! - its true ?!?!?!?!? - surprise, surprise... and you aren't even man enough to apologize after all this "boiler room - cretin, stock manipulator" BS ?!?!?"

Comment: Why would I apologize to a "Boiler room ? cretin, stock manipulator" ?!?!?

ON TOPIC: The news article was entitled "Report: Friede layoffs planned?" Did you notice the question mark (?) I did! The news article stated: "WLOX-TV, quoting unnamed sources, reported today that Friede Goldman anticipated laying off approximately 40 percent of its work force." Did you notice the words "quoting unnamed sources"? I did!

A call to FGH regarding the rumors elicited this reply: "It is Company policy NOT to respond to rumors".

I also quoted the Jan 6th Q&A, so investors would have a background of information to view the rumors with objective perspective:

"Q - What is the status of the integration process of the merged companies? Are there any hitches?
A - Going Fine. We have our strategic plan put in place here. We are evaluating a number of none core assets for divestiture to free up some cash. We are assimilating the two systems of accounting and integrating all the different things to make it one company. Things are going smoothly and we are not running into any major problems. Generally speaking, things are going quite well.
Q - What is the general status of overall business activity?
A - We have quite a few Bids outstanding right now. We are experiencing a very solid level of inquiries for a wide range of - not only vessel type projects; but, also other off shore energy projects whether its construction project or an upgrade to an existing piece. Not so much new construction right now; but, lots of inquiries on upgrades, retrofits and people looking to bringing equipment back into service.
Q - You have higher margins there anyway, don't you?
A - We do; but, of course they are smaller dollars and are accomplished more quickly.
Q - They do keep your crews busy don't they?
A - That's right, they sure do!
Q - While talking about that, what is the status of manpower right now? Are you hiring, firing, maintaining the status quo, What?
A - Right now, pretty constant? Of course that all depends on the status of work at an individual yard.
We are utilizing attrition because of some slow down in our work instead of laying people off. We also use a number of contract laborers. We probably have over a 1000 contract workers, right now. We can shift those levels up and down without losing our corps group of craft workers.
Q - What would you say is the total employment of the Company, right now?
A - Approximately 9000 which is about the same as 3 months ago."

An analyst or OBJECTIVE researcher would have compared the news article (quoting unnamed sources)
with the background information BEFORE making irrational statements such as YOU did.

Your emotional attachment to EVERYTHING I post is revealing. I am not sure I appreciate the fascination; but, it would likely make an interesting psychological study or MAYBE the basis for a best seller! >g<

When the TRUTH is revealed, the statement regarding the size of a (layoff?) - (insinuating company wide) will be found to be baseless. COUNT ON IT!!
