Curtis, the real issue with DEC (and in the early 90's the comms unit was doing MAYBE 500 million in revenues) was that marketing sucked. Every single group in the company had great engineers with crappy marketing. If there is a similarity between DEC and LU, it did not emerge until this quarter. Most of the issue this last quarter can likely be put squarely on the shoulders of those that were supposed to know what the customers wanted. That is being fixed. The optical group is being completely re-orged effective immediately. Marching orders have been given.

The management at DEC did not know what was going on in other parts of the company. That is definitely NOT the case with LU. ASND, Yurie and the optical efforts are all very aware of eachother, product efforts, integration issues, etc. To me that is promising. Execution is the key. If the problems were greater than that, I would be VERY concerned. I am not, though I did sell some this week and will diversify more as time goes on (I have been extremely overweighted in LU).

Good luck,

Brian
