Suresh.. what do you mean by long side of bond? Are you expecting interest rates to go up, hold steady or go down?

I just came down with the flu.. sure changes one's perception of things.. uggh.

You can trade options on the TYX index which is the long bond's interest rate. Not exactly the bond itself, bt the effect of the 30 yr bond. Just remember that the TYX moves opposite the bond so if you are long the bond, you expect the TYX to drop so you want puts, if you are short the Bond, then the TYX will go up so you want calls.
