Robertson Stephens Raises Estimates, Reiterates Buy Rating on BRCD
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2000--Robertson Stephens Managing Director and Senior Communications/Networking Analyst Paul Johnson today reiterated his Buy rating on Brocade Communications (NASDAQ:BRCD - news). Brocade Communications, based in San Jose, Calif., is a pioneering vendor in the market for Fibre Channel, which offers high-speed connection technology.

``We are reiterating our Buy rating on Brocade,' said Johnson. ``We believe Brocade will have another strong-quarterly upside surprise. Continued strong adoption rates and virtually noY2K impact helped accelerate the already strong quarter. In addition, there appears to be a lot of interest in the company's new, low-cost switches with multiple RFQ's and design wins, although we do not expect to see much revenue from this segment until next quarter.'

``We are raising our estimates to reflect the expected upside to the financial performance in the January quarter from our original estimates, the increasing visibility Brocade has into its customer base, and the overall outlook for the Fibre Channel market,' said Johnson. ``The Fibre Channel market has clearly begun to accelerate, and we believe Brocade is well positioned to capture an increasing percentage of the overall market especially in a quarter where Brocade's two principal competitors have pre-announced mixed results - one below expectations, one in-line.'

``We are taking our fiscal 2000 and fiscal 2001 earnings-per-share estimates from $0.35 to $0.39 and from $0.67 to $0.73,' said Johnson.
