Jeff,

Thanks for reposting your "Coming into Range" Post. It (and a few I saw like it) were very good and identify issues and challenges surrounding the adoption of cdmaOne & cdma2000 in Europe and on other continents or in countries where GSM is the dominant technology.

Unfortunately, after several years of attendance, I have had to finally remove the bookmark on "Coming into Range". As a working stiff, I simply don't have enough bandwidth to read all so I focus on the "S&P 500" thread, Nokia's also, and kick back over here.

<< I am personally hoping that when new spectrum is auctioned off in Europe, we can get some backers of CDMA2000 to buy that spectrum, roll out CDMA2000 >>

Me too. Vodafone Airtouch is key,IMO, to helping CDMA2000 be positioned in GSM land (which is MUCH bigger than Europe) and with ETSI.

<< case was presented by the CTO of Vodafone Airtouch. We had a fairly lengthy discussion on the drivers of the technology of choice >>

Wish I could have attended and heard. Methinks some preaching was going on. Remember though: Chris Gent's team does one heck of a job beating vendors into cooperation with other vendors and submission <g>

Interested to hear mQ's take.

JHN, I think you are right on regarding the EU culture and vendor driven versus operator driven. Regarding new spectrum, one would think there is enough knowledge out there regarding cdma2000 and the significant disadvantage EU operators would be at if an existing or new entrant adopted cdma2000 in Europe. How about a bunch of USA investors go to EU and bid on new spectrum to launch cdma2000? sounds crazy, but someone needs to do it. FWIT
Thanks
