Rumor from who? Where did you hear it? What validity does it have?

Good luck

There's a chart on cable modems in today's Investors Business Daily. There's no way to link, as IBD doesn't file graphs and charts.

Worldwide Third-Quarter cable-modem shipments:

Standards-based models just under 300,000
Proprietary-based models just under 600,000

Share of Standards-based models vs. proprietary-based:

1999:
Proprietary 60% and Standards-based 40%

2000:
Proprietary 20% and Standards-based 80%

Market share of cable-modem makers in third quarter 1999:
Motorola 37.2%, Arris (Nortel) 12.8%, Com21 9.8%, Terayon 8.2%, GI 7.1% and others 25.3%.

Can we extrapolate CMTO's growth from the above?

MOT doesn't have a DOCSIS model but I'm not sure about GI.
