Pat,

Increasing memory capacity beyond 128MB yielded negligible performance improvements in tests.

What about the very last line? Why would this help Rambus?

Because there is no need to have more than 128Mbyte and therefore the higher cost of Rambus will have a lesser impact than some people have predicted.

Pat, The fact that "WINDOWS 2000" needs lots of power and bandwidth to run, means that people will need "MORE POWERFUL COMPUTERS" to get the full use of the new software. One of the biggest pieces of FUD about RAMBU$ was "There is no software that needs the high bandwith of RAMBU$ so no one will buy it". This is obviously no longer true with the release of the new "WINDOwS 2000" operating software.

The fact that no increase in performance of "WINDOWS 2000" with over 128 MB of current SDRAM means that all the FUD put out by DAN3 that all new desktops would need more than 256 MB of RAM to run properly and that the new 820 chipset motherboards had only TWO RIMM SLOTS and that was not enough!!!! Just more FUD down the DRAIN along with all the other CR@P spread by the SEA-GULLS just 30 days ago.

The future looks bright ahead for RAMBU$ If you do not care to hear about the positives of INVESTING in RAMBU$, then I suggest you go to the "PENGUIN" thread and read some more of DON GREENS post!!!

Salude to you PAT and I hope your little boy doesn't get this FLU BUG that seems to be so bad in your area(NY and EASTEN SEABOARD) - Norman.
