The issue here is not whether he is obligated to do so, it is that he used to do to defend the stock. History is everything when there is not enough data.

I can't believe, Dell is actually up today!

Leigh, Hi, re:<<Michael Dell is not on trial. He does not have to respond to rumors.>> CEO's are on "trial" everyday. That's the nature of a CEO's job. Ask Edamo...

MD doesn't have to respond to rumors. All he has to do is protect shareholder value. Let the others respond to rumors...EMC, Cisco, At&t, Ncr, et al.

As usual, JMO

Hi Leigh,

I have to disagree with you on this one. As CEO he does have a responsibility to the stockholders to put a halt to rumors especially in the market environment we are in today. George Bush Jr. tried to ignore the press about his past and it only festered until he did. If Michael doesn't respond on our behalf who will?

At least we're up a little today, hope it is the start of some positive movement.

Tom

leigh..."dell not obligated to do so"

takes a lot of faith, to believe that a company is not responsible for shareholder value!

ytd return on dell beginning to be a negative.....great company, but you are a shareholder...negative return in the greatest tech market advance in history....works for me..

dell not obligated to do anything, but keeps on selling his stock as if someone had a gun to his head...

unfortunately, the market requires an active management to sooth its nerves and make the stock go up....maybe didn't used to be when value was king....
