Other than waiting until the end of 2000 when only a read compatible SDLT will be available, you look deadended if you want higher performance. It would seem that a read only drive would only save those old DLT tapes you wished to use for long term archival which could still be retrieved with your existing drives.
Am curious if you are actively evaluating your migration path. If so, when do you hear you will actually be able to purchase LTO? Have you evaluated Mammoth 2?

Would love to hear from anyone else who is hands on with these products.
