At AT&T, Shoemaker was the Vice President responsible for AT&T's WorldNet Service, a role formerly held by AT&T Chairman and CEO Tom Evslin. Shoemaker was a key part of the team led by Evslin, which designed and launched WorldNet as AT&T's first and most successful Internet service. Shoemaker also held a number of business, technical, and marketing positions in AT&T Business Services, Bell Laboratories, and Bell Communications Research. During his 12 years at Bell Labs, he was responsible for development and deployment of network systems, applications, and products targeted for the telecommunications, government, and information systems markets. Tom Shoemaker joins the ITXC executive team, which includes Tom Evslin - Chairman and CEO, Ed Jordan - Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and John Musci - Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Ed Hirschman, newly promoted to Vice President of New Service Development and responsible for ITXC's successful introduction of PC-phone wholesale service, will report to Shoemaker.
