Kenneth, george gilder recently wrote that nt was smart to get qtera's 2400mi w/o regeneration technology so that nt can replace its sonet nets with qtera systems before someone else does it for them. lucent PLANS to enhance WaveStar 400G to double optical signal distances without regeneration, (double'd be going from 600 mi. to 1200 mi) while nt's qtera's technology ALREADY quadruples optical signal distance w/o regeneration to 2400 miles. proven by full scale test on Qwest's network.
qtera's technology, i've read, depends on solitons. more on this: my query to Frank Coluccio on solitons on Last Mile. j
