Even in the heart of GSM-land, the data rates are most commonly 9.6K, and the 38K some claim falls well short in reality. There can be no counter by the GSM jihad---CDMA data is superior NOW.

IS-95B can do 115.2 kbps data. This comes directly from QCOM presentation. The ASIC in the phone might be the 86K bottleneck at this point. DSP's ASIC can do 115k.
