It will also be interesting to see if they auction it off as a whole, or in pieces. I could see it going either way, since Nextwave bought individual pieces, which have been lumped together to form the current whole, but there may be operators who might like to cherry-pick, and it's possible they (the FCC) could get more money that way. Also interesting to see who is eligible to bid... could be some heavy hitters showing up if it's open to anyone.

Should be very interesting regardless...

Can someone explain why the stock went UP on this news? They seem to have invested more than $1 billion in a company which now is dead in the water without the licenses it thought it had. Unless, as you said, they had a clause which gets them out of it.
