Hi Edamo,..Re:.cpq ceo today announces "direct sale run rate......"

They also announced an agreement with MSFT. <g>

Compaq, Microsoft cut hosting deal
yahoo.cnet.com

Plus, some remarks on the CPQ thread seem to be highly in favor of shedding the "boxmaker" image. <g> (Reading the CPQ thread because of the Jan 30 calls). Could this be because the ASP business is more compelling? High growth? Lucrative? Is Gates being short-sighted here? <g>

Cheers,

Lee

edamo..6 months ago....I thought you were early with your calls of better PR.....when Dell was up 30% for the year (while the Naz was up 45%)......but now, given the lack of response by Dell....or less PR in the last few months, I think this has led to the "PCs are dead" crew to win the hype-battle....for many investors, PCs are passe'.......and yeah, it has hurt (over the last few yrs).....so maybe you weren't so early after all....

We have, though, also been witnessing the transition of Dell from the "high-flyer" type stock...to a more normal growth vehicle..not entirely unexpected given that the company is maturing...but growth is still phenomenal...that is needs to be touted...

That anyone still believes anything CPQ re: direct sales is truly a wonder....

Finally, Dell needs to get the market to see the (really) excellent growth opportunity ahead, as companies transition into Microsoft 2000....as a result, if Dell reports .20 or .21..it will likely be quickly forgotten IF Dell can get the market looking at the bigger picture....that's why I support a statement that includes some information about this quarter, but points to this year's growth-to-come as necessary....(while also negating the PC-is-dead crowd, and highlighting other growth ops)..
